Hi, I am Pedro!

I am an architect and urban designer who fell for the sketchbook and never looked back. For years I've drawn Lisbon and beyond, its tiled facades, its arches, its light in ink and watercolour, small enough to carry anywhere.

I've taught urban sketching from Lisbon to Barcelona, Riga and Oslo, watching complete beginners go from "I can't draw" to capturing a street in twenty confident minutes. In Travel, Notice, Sketch, I've put that whole method into one course: the technique you need, without ever losing the joy of it.

The course has 7 modules plus an extra lesson for 6+ hours of learning and practicing. You can pause and replay the videos as much as you want. The course is suitable for everyone. It would be best to take the course in order, because it will start from the basics to lessons at a more advanced level.

Every video is in full HD, and you can adjust the speed, audio and quality to suit how you like to learn.

I pack my videos with as much visual material as I can, real photos and references, so you always have something to draw from and practise with. You follow each step exactly as I make it, in real time. And under every video, and in the group, you can comment, share your pages and compare notes with other students, so any doubt gets cleared up and you'll pick up new tricks along the way.

The whole course is built to be practical above all. You'll learn the real foundations: seeing a scene as simple shapes, building confidence with your line, and getting expressive results from a simple watercolour palette. Review any lesson as many times as you like, wherever you are, whenever it suits you.

We will look together at your compact travel kit, basic techniques, and the mindset needed to begin this journey. Approaching location sketching means first learning how best to use the tools at your disposal.

Theory matters, but what actually turns you into a sketcher is practice, and then a lot more practice. You'll find plenty of exercises to get you going and to pull ideas from whenever you're stuck. I'll also show you a few tricks of my own that make your lines more expressive and fill your pages with life.
